Version 1 · Last updated 20 August 2026

This explains what we collect when you register your interest in StartMo, why we collect it, and what you can ask us to do with it. It is written to meet the Nigeria Data Protection Act and the NDPR.

Who we are

StartMo is a mobility company in formation, based in Abuja, Nigeria. We are the data controller for the information described here. You can reach us at hello@startmo.ng.

What we collect

When you complete the registration form, we collect:

We also record the date of your submission and a one-way encrypted version of your IP address. We do not store your actual IP address. The encrypted version exists only to stop automated abuse of the form and cannot be reversed to identify you.

What we do not collect

We do not ask for and do not want your bank details, BVN, NIN, licence number or any payment information at this stage. Nobody at StartMo will request these from you before we have publicly opened applications, and we will never request them by phone or WhatsApp message.

If anyone contacts you claiming to represent StartMo and asks for money, bank details or identity documents, it is not us. Please tell us at hello@startmo.ng.

Why we collect it

We use your information for three things only:

The legal basis is your consent, which you gave by ticking the box on the form. You can withdraw it at any time and we will act on that.

Who we share it with

We do not sell, rent or trade your details. Your information sits on our own hosting in a database we control. The only third parties who could ever see it are service providers who help us operate, such as our hosting provider, and they are bound to handle it only on our instructions.

We will disclose information if a court or a regulator with proper authority requires it, and not otherwise.

How long we keep it

We keep your registration until you ask us to remove it, or for twenty-four months after our public launch, whichever comes first. If you become a StartMo customer, a separate notice will apply to that relationship and we will give it to you at the time.

How we protect it

The site runs over an encrypted connection. The database is not publicly accessible. Access is limited to the people who need it, and IP addresses are hashed rather than stored. No system is perfect, and we will tell you directly if a breach ever affects your information.

Your rights

Under Nigerian data protection law you can ask us to:

Email hello@startmo.ng with the phone number you registered and we will action it within thirty days at the outside, usually much sooner. There is no charge.

If you are not satisfied with how we handle a request, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.

Cookies

This site sets one session cookie, which exists solely to keep the registration form secure against automated submissions. It expires when you close your browser. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking on this site.

Changes

If we change this notice we will update the version number and date at the top. If a change materially affects how we use information you have already given us, we will contact you before it takes effect.
